You have arrived at the "in-stream activity" page. Here you will find information that you may need for projects that involved or possibly involve streams and waterways. Developers or involved parties need to do the following: 1. Advise the county if the stream work will occur in a mapped floodplain. 2. If it is in a mapped flood hazard area, assure the County in writing that the carrying capacity of the stream will be maintained; most likely proved with an engineering study. 3. If alteration will result in changes to base flood elevations or floodway the developer will need to obtain permission of affected property owners and submit applications and appropriate data to FEMA to amend the map. 4. Developer must notify FEMA, State of West Virginia, and the county in addition to any adjacent communities of the watercourse alteration (in other words if a Municipal or other county will be affected by this change they must be notified). 5. The county also needs to be given copies of any other permits obtained for the project from: a) US Army Corps of Engineers b) DEP c) DNR/Public Lands Also please download and see the Microsoft Word document entitled "General Watercourse & Bridge Guidance". It is available from HERE. Last Update:
